Most software that is used is 'off the shelf' or 'packaged' and will typically be used by thousands or even millions of users. The other type of software that is used is bespoke software which has been custom developed for your needs.
Bespoke software is the type of software that is developed either for a specific business/industry, or has a specific function which differs from what is already available as off-the-shelf software. Naturally, it has a higher cost, but also has many advantages, such as:
